SOME COMMENTS FROM READERS

John:

Just finished reading your book.  Couldn't put it down.  Wow, what an adventure.....and what a great book.  Best I've read in a while.  Thanks for writing it!  Hope you are selling lots of copies.  I saw your 2"x2" ad in a magazine and said "I gotta read this"
These adventures are not only for the young at heart.  I'm near 50 and still enjoy getting out and doing the small boat/long range cruise thing.  The Colombia River/Snake River trip or a Canadian Gulf Island/Sunshine Coast cruise each take about 2 weeks or so.  We are always looking for friends to "enjoy the adventure".  Should you ever want to do a northern trip with us, let me know.

Hello John,

What an honor and pleasure to correspond with you.  Thank you for signing the book.  I purchased two copies, one was for myself and the other is to give to my son.

The book is incredible and I am at a loss as to why it has not received greater circulation in the boating community.  In my opinion it should have a cult following!  Your undertaking is what inspires future young boaters to improve/hone their boating skills and let us parents know that eventually everything works out ok with our kids.  I say this as my son just turned 19 and I find him in NYC  learning about life.

Please know that if you are ever in St. Augustine again be sure To contact me as there will a plate of shrimps/grits and biscuit with Lots of beer waiting for you to show you that our town's hospitality hasn't changed much over the years.

Bonjour John,

Please know that I REALLY enjoyed your book. I live in Lafayette La. and had a trawler in Oak Harbor on the North shore of Lake Ponchatrain. If you ever come to this part of our great country please look me up as I would love to show you and the wife, kids etc. New Orleans and South La. (Cajun country). Again I enjoyed your adventure.

Merci,

Tommy

John,

I read your book and it was absolutely fantastic. I am 39 and graduated high school in '87. My two best buddies and I purchased a 17' Four Winns boat and had many adventures aboard it. Anyway, nice job, I hope everyone reads your book as it is truly a testament to how good so many people are.

John,

I just read your book my boss got from the Boston Whaler factory last week. It was such a great adventure and really showcased the true kindness and compassion of America , from the class acts you took with you to your guests and those you met on the way, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I sell Boston Whalers and am a firm believer in the boats and I will be using your book in my sales pitch.

My wife and kids are also Whaler fanatics as I use them in promotions with a 130 Sport cut in half to show the unsinkabliity. Our home is always open to you and your friends. If you have never seen Destin it is beautiful.

Hey John

Thanks for signing my book.  I am thoroughly enjoying it.  I'm ready to start Part III, and find it easy to pick up and hard to put down.  Well done!!!  I wish I could say something so profound, as "I didn't know you could write!.", but on the contrary you come by your creativity and enthusiasm honestly, and you've been true to yourself since you were a little guy.   I love the writing, the story and the adventure.  I am so glad you put your pen to paper so that the rest of us could  "live your dream", if only in our heads.  It is refreshing to hear of the warmth, welcome and generosity you received through your travels from strangers... you couldn't have chosen a better theme... only in America ...

Thanks for the story.
